Our Anton is a toy torturer. If it squeaks, he must chew into that toy and kill it as quickly as possible (this is why we don't give him all his toys at once, we dole them out). "tough" toys usually mean it will take him 3 minutes instead of 1 to kill it and chew the squeaker up. I've purchased those "indestructible" toys - even made out of firehose - not a problem for Anton, he simply uses his teeth to carefully undo the stitching. We've tried hard rubber toys but if it doesn't squeak, he's not all that interested.
Through the years we've found a few good old standbys that he can't kill immediately. Oh, we still give him the stuffed ones to murder because he LOVES squeak toys, but it's nice for him to have ones that he has to work at like a puzzle, give up on for a while and come back to.
I don't know what it is about this cactus toy, but we got the first one a few years ago. It took him a couple of years to rip the arms/spikes/flower off and eventually get the cover off... only to then need to work even harder to get to the ball at the middle. The second one we ordered we cannot find. I think he's probably buried it in the back yard or taken it under a bed and forgotten about it. I see there's some newer Consula's out there, but I'm leery if it's made with the same near Anton-proof manufacturing as the original. Hope to see her back in the store soon!
